Eliminating Stress From Your Life

 

Stress should not be taken lightly and should not be taken for granted. It creeps right into your life, takes over your physical being, affects your mental state and can prevent you from moving forward with your goals. Even worse, it can kill you.

 

Are you experiencing any of the following?

- Depression

- Weight Gain (from increased eating)

- Skin conditions

- Pain (OF ANY KIND!!!)

- Digestive problems (Perhaps, an ulcer?)

- Trouble Sleeping

- Lack of sex drive

- Hair Loss (Men or Women)

 

Consider your circumstances. Are you in a challenging job, dealing with a challenging boss, out of work, having financial difficulties, in a divorce, experiencing increased household responsibilities, or in a difficult relationship? If you answered yes to any one of these issues, you need to learn how to manage stress more effectively. Regardless of whether you have experienced any problem, BE PROACTIVE!

 

Three things YOU HAVE to do if you REALLY want to minimize stress:

Communicate: If you are experiencing a problem or a challenge, identify a support person who you can talk to about the situation. The conversation you have with yourself might not be accurate. You are limited by what you know which means that your thoughts may only add stress to the stress. Get an objective outside perspective NO MATTER WHAT!

 

Planning: Whether you are at work and are assigned to do a presentation or you are getting ready to spend money on gifts, planning can help you alleviate many of the stresses. If you thrive under pressure, be careful that you are not adding to your own stress. With respect to public speaking, 75 percent of speech anxiety can be alleviated through preparation.

 

Also, the holidays are quickly approaching and almost seven in ten Americans state that money is a huge source of stress (71 percent), according to APA's 2009 Stress in America survey. The same survey found that children also bare the burden of financial worry twice as much as their parents realize. In essence, don't waste another minute. Make your holiday list now and determine your budget. Do NOT plan to spend more than you are comfortable with. It's not about the gift, it's about spending time with those you love. Turn your financial stress into personal contentment. Your frame of mind during the holidays will be much more welcome than the gift.

 

Take a Break: Whether you are dealing with work, relationship, or financial issues, give yourself permission to check out. You may work through lunch, but a much-needed break will rejuvenate you and increase your productivity. The same goes for a stressful relationship. Perhaps it's time to take a break or find a new approach to personal dilemmas. Facing challenges with the same methodologies will produce the same stressful results and a relationship in constant stress isn't good for anyone. If you are not operating as a team, it's time to make an immediate adjustment.
